Socks and flowers
I’ve dug into my stash of Socks That Rock, and started a new pair:
Can I say again how much I love this yarn? It just feels… neat. The colors are fabulous, as always, and I love the little bit of pooling I got at the top when I decided to switch to a smaller needle earlier than the pattern called for. I can’t wait to see what the colors do at the heel and foot.
I also have a Finished Object; well, a piece that was mostly finished quite a while ago, but I was just lazy about weaving in the ends.
Pattern: Garden Scarf by Michelle Ameron (Ravel that sucker!)
Yarn: Aurora 8 from Karabella; Orchid, Plum & Beige
I finally got them all taken care of last week, and gave it a light blocking on Saturday to flatten the flowers a bit. My boyfriend took one look at this thing and said “You’re crazy.” Why yes, yes I am!
Gifties
I’ve put the socks down for a while, because I have some actual deadlines coming up. Between birthdays and conferences, my needles are going to be flying this spring!
First up, the Piano Scarf:
My idea is to have piano keys at each end of the scarf, with a few music notes in white drifting up from the keys. The middle of the scarf will be solid black. I’m making this up as I go along, so I keep crossing my fingers when I try something new. I wouldn’t recommend knitting with crossed fingers. Not so much fun.
The first end is finished, and so far things are coming along well. I’ve charted out a few different music notes, but I’m thinking they might be too big. We’ll see.
This is being knit in the round, and when it’s finished I’ll sew up the ends and block it flat. In theory, it should work!
Then there are the beanies I’m crocheting for my bro (I’m pretty sure he doesn’t read this blog, so I’m safe!):
I did the top of this in one night while we were watching Ice Age, and the rest was finished during a few lunch breaks at work. This thing popped out so fast, I think I’ll pick up a couple more colors and do another one, solid with a few stripes toward the edge.
I’ve finally found my Prince Charming!
Hee!
And now, for some knitting:
The entralac is so much fun! I’ll have to lightly block it once I’m finished, just so it’s not so puffy.
I’m hoping to have this baby blanket crotched in time for the baby shower I’ll be attending in San Francisco next month. We’ll see.
My first sock! It fits my foot perfectly; although, I’m not sure I like how the toe finished out. Maybe I’ll try a different bind-off on the second sock. These are just for when I’m bumming around the house, so they don’t have to be perfect or anything.
